What do you do if you cant find your baby red ear slider and you know hes in the house2007-11-24 2:03:26

I've looked everywhere. I lost him last night.

Answers:

put out some bowls (that he can climb into) on the floor add some of his tank water and some food. After you do that start searching. Inside cabinets, under furniture. In a pile of dirty clothes, look everywhere!

**MAKE SURE THE FOOD IS IN THE WATER, THEY CAN"T SWALLOW IF THEY ARE NOT IN THE WATER!! ;-) **

check corners. mine likes to hide in corners but they usually dont go further than what they're used to. So my guess is it's not too far from the tank.

Good luck, mine did this last winter, and I had finally given up and thought he died. And wouldn't ya know it, about 3 mo's later, I get up in the morning to go potty and there he is, scootin down the hall way. So, all I can say is if it is cold, he will attempt to hibernate, if it is warm/hot, he'll be active.

I have lost a snake before but never a turtle. They need to stay moist or they can dry out. Put bowls of water in different rooms of the house. He will smell the water and go to them. Then you will find him in one of your waters bowls. Food wise he should be fine it's just the water I would worry about. Good Luck!

Get out bowls of water, or plates of water, enough he can get a drink from, lay them out around places where you can see him/her coming and getting into them. If they stay out too long, they'll dehydrate (they need water to swallow food etc etc) since your turtle is a baby it's going to be really hard to find them.
