What is happening to my pet garter snake Hes shaking and turning his body over in weird positions2007-11-24 2:03:32

First, his body was slightly inflated so he looked bigger or fatter. Then his body was formed in a zig-zag fashion. When I picked him up, he wasn't alert, didn't move much or flicked his tounge. However, he moved a little bit when I put him down so I know he's not dead. He turned his body over halfway and I found that abnormal especially when he's shaking every few moments like as if he had a seizure.

Please let me know what is happening. I searched everywhere online and I can't find a solution.

Answers:

You don't say how old your garter is. It could be old age. However, I would get him/her to the vet. I have taken care of lot of snakes and it doesn't sound good. I am sorry to say that, but, you need to be prepared.
