Where can I purchase a good emergency kit for Snake bites
Currently I am living in thailand where I regularly go on runs through the jungle with the local Hash House Harrier Club. On my last run it appeared that I ran into a viper. Luckily I did not get bitten. Now I would like to be a little more proactive.
Where can I purchase an emergency kit (until I get to the hospital and get the anti-venom) that will minimize the effects of the bite if I do get bitten.
I would appreciate a link. Also a big plus if you know where in Thailand I can buy it or where I can buy Anti-venom.

Answers:The way things work there are different than here, but my own guesses would be:
- Most anti-venins have to be refrigerated to keep any shelf life, so don't help much in the field.
1. Get everyone safe- move away from the snake, etc.
2. Keep the victim calm and treat for shock. Keep the bitten part as low as possible. Remove jewelery, etc, that will get tight as swelling continues.
3. Learn 'Pressure Immobilization' ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/snakebite_(. or the link below ) and carry the supplies for it- mostly elastic bandages and maybe a portable splint.
Pressure Immobilization is a great and fairly new technique that has shown tremendous results in the field. It is also safer and seems to be more effective than the old 'cut and suck' methods.
All people living here know that there is crowded snake areas some places and other with no snakes.If you really have to run around in snake areas, and risk your life - then use som high boots. Its hot and wet to use, I know - but compared to risk your life its nothing. Thailand have some of the most poison snakes in the world. Also you can try run as third or fourth..lol, -person, because snake will normally slide away when they feel movements in the ground, because they can't hear.
I don't think you can buy anti-venom - because each snake type have its own anti-venom. It can be fatal to use the wrong anti-venom.I have been biting myself and will tell you that after 20 min your body will go into cramps and shaking, even its mild poison snakes who bite you. You simply have to reach a hospital before 30 min. And best kill the snake and bring it with you, or at least describe how it looks to get the right anti-venom.
Why not make a HHH running through less crowded snake areas.
