A lot of smaller animals pee when you pick them up mostly out of fright. If they pee, it means they don't want to be held. My turtles pee when I pick them up all the time (and one of them shot projectile pee on the vet while he was being examined). It seems like a defense they'd use in nature.they'd be picked up in another animal's mouth. Some shoot poisons, so I guess the ones that don't have that mechanism will shoot pee.
