Younger sister wants to explore the different types and lifestyles of lizards and other ampibians. She does know that one of them is from stress.
Answers:stress, heat, cold and surroundings cause color darkening or lightening in lizards and geckos. They may darken to collect heat or lighten to expell heat. Stress is a number one cause though for drab color.
its a mechanism of defence
To blend in with their surroundings.
The lizard does not actually change color. The lizard is able to disturb water molecules in the air, making them bend until it forms a prizm that reflects the sun and it casts a different light upon the lizard making it appear to have changed color.
Some lizards esp the males become a bright orange colour when there in season. (this is iguanas)
They go a darker colour when they sit out in the sunlight also.
some lizards also change colour to absorb more heat, a few lizards turn darker when basking so they warm up faster, and when they are too hot they change to a lighter colour
cause u spilled paint on them
