Why doesnt my iguana like his baths2007-11-24 2:04:55

Everytime i try to give him a bath he wont. He always trys to get out or run up my arms, and i dont understand y. because arnt thy supost to liek these kinda things?

Answers:

Reptiles like a simple life; sit under the heat lamp, eat once or twice a day, that's about it. Everything else is just a pain in the neck for them.

We have a bearded Dragon and she doesn't like her baths, either. Make sure the water is very warm to minimize the discomfort and only do it when you can see it's dirty. Our Dragon is a messy eater, so she gets a bath once a week. We use a tall plastic storage container and let her soak for about five minutes.

yes they usualy injoy a bath oncein a while to help them shed.

is the water luke warm,not too warm or cold. also this may be new to it so it will need time to get ues to it.

Some iguanas like baths, mine both love to swim around and play in the water. if you have too much water in the "tub" then they might not like it, try only putting about an inch of water in there and then try to give them a bath, its not nessasary for lizards to have a bath but it is another sorce of cleaning them, b/c they can pick up diseases from their own feaces it is a good idea to keep them as clean as possible. if you need any other help with anything with you iguana, you can e-mail me at xrose_of_shyronx@yahoo.com.

All I can think of is that it might be that steel-wool pad and the Drain-O. Try just spraying water.. Why are you bathing it? Are you going to go to the Islands and bath every Iguana you see??
