Why is my Blue-tongue skink still hiding Its been 4 days2007-11-24 2:05:03

Everyday he stays out and doesn't bury him self until the evening/ Somoetimes he doesn't hide at all. But when he does hide, its usually just for a couple hours. Well, this time its been 4 days. He hasn't even come out for waterThe temp is fine in the tank,,, its the same as always. around 95-100. I wiggle him alittle sometimes to make sure hes alive,, and he wiggles back. Is this normal for them to bury themselves for this many days? I live in Maryland and the weather been pretty good, I've been keeping the windows open, but hes not near them. His bedding is that dark brown thin"mulch" type, that comes in a block and you wet it. He loves that stuff. Hes had that since we got him 3 years ago. Hes ablout 18 inches lon.g Do you think he could be doing some kind of hybernating?? It just worries me because hes never done this before.. Have any suggestions? No smart answers PLEASE

I have handled Blue-tongued skinks before as a zoo volunteer. I think a phone call (or email) to a zoo would help you out.

could your pet be shedding? that sounds like what my snake would do right before a shed.

Sometimes reptiles go through rough sheds, do to poor nutrition or other factors.
