Will my California Kingsnake make it and what can I do to help
Today, while holding my kingsnake, I decided to close my window. The movement or sound of the window closing must have startled the snake because he lunged off my hand and unfortuneatly, right between the window and the sill. He suffered pretty serious injuries (at least in my opinion). I rushed him to the animal hospital where they treated him with enrofloxicin (antibiotic) and buprenorphine (pain killer). They basically said that he may make it and he may not. If he doesn't, at least the pain medication should help his suffering.
Answers:Keep him warm and make sure nothing disturbs him. All you can do is let him rest & try to heal himself. Give him fresh water & try not to hover around his cage. He doesn't need any stress now. Good luck & I hope your King makes a full recovery.
I hope he will be all right. Good Luck !
I hope so. Kingsnakes are cool pets. Basically there is nothing you can do. Odds are he's not going to make it because vets are normally optimistic. You could see if there is an exotic animal specialist or exotic animal hospital near you because they'll give you the best assessment and treatment. Dont feel guilty about what happened though, there really wasn't any way you could have seen that happening.
