He will eat crickets just fine. I would recommend getting him small dusted crickets once a week. How many depends on his size. Take him with you to a petsmart and ask how many he should be getting a week. The crickets will live in the tank with the frog till they are eaten. This may be a problem with the frog because they are semi-aquatic. It would be easier to take him out of the main cage for feeding, putting him in a rubbermaid container or something similar and adding a few crickets at a time. As far as being afraid of the bugs goes. there aren't really any other options. You'd probably never get them to eat processed, non-live food. If you can't handle the feeding, a different pet should have been considered. This is a chance to tame your fear, unless you can get someone else to do the feedings for you. I also recommend you go purchase an inexpensive book on fire belly care. It will be a good reference from time to time when you have questions. For as long as I've had animals live goldfish, I still use my books.

The crickets won't hurt you, but I'm afraid of them too. I opted out of cricket-eating animals, maybe you'll decide just to get over it, lol. Good Luck!

Like the previous said, you can feed it in a seperate container, or just monitor how many crickets you put in at a time (or only do one at a time and when it stops eating, stop feeding). As far as 'plucking' crickets..just suck it up and do it, it's part of having a herp.
