when i am older i am thinking about getting an iguana. how much does an iguana cost and where can i get one?? what do they eat, give me some good websites. how many gallon tank does it need?

Iguanas are one the cheapest lizards to buy but to keep them alive its going to cost you alot.

I recomend not buying one, infact boycott any store that sells them because there are so many iguanas being killed and set free and dumped off at zoos and reptile rescues because people buy them thinking cute lizards but then they quickly learn how much work they are and how big they get and they neglect them or abandon them. I would find a reptile rescue in your are and adopt a homeless iguana.

They are strict vegetarians, needing greens high in calcium like collards, iguanaden has a good list of greens.

No lettuce whatsoever and no animal proteins either.

Iguana costs about 150 - 400 (if you go to mexico you can get them for 20 dollars). You can get them at petco or pets mart. They eat small crikets or worms. It needs about a 60 gallon tanks.

I bought a baby iguana from a breeder in Cherokee, SC. It was only $40.00 and there was a huge tank full of them. We found it a new home 2 years later, and its much happier. I found it had too many teeth and was too fast with its tail.
