im keeping a class pet i have some questions its a snake2007-11-24 2:00:40

well im keeping my class pet for a while and its a snkae. you know your supposed too wash your hands after u pet one? well im always afraid that i havent washed my hands enough. im afraid of, like making it sick or making myself sick cause i havent washed my hands enough!

Good for you for taking the responsibilty so seriously. I don't know how old you are but since it's a class pet, i'm guessing you're a kid. Good for you. Your parents should be proud. Don't worry too much about hand washing. Once will do. You won't make it sick. Another thing you might want to try is reading up (on the internet or in books) about snakes and their behaviors because you'll get an even better experience out of caring for the snake. Have fun!

I wouldn't be constantly worried about that as much just wash your hands before and after you touch the snake and go on with your life.

I always wash my hands before and after handling my snake. If you smell like food the snake may bite you. Snakes, like most reptiles can carry samonella which can make you pretty sick! I'd keep some hand sanitizer near the cage and try to remeber to use it. Good luck and have fun with him!
