i was told when i was 4 yrs old i was charmed by a black snake

a hypnotic fugue state can be experienced at any age, all it takes is something that holds your attention long enough for your mind to ease into a sleep-like state where you are still somewhat aware of your surroundings. i've been hypnotized by watching my kids go play on a merry go round. sat there for a good while before my wife put her hand on my shoulder and asked me if i was asleep. nope, just in a trance.

That's probably the funniest thing I've ever heard. Snakes don't have any mystical powers over the human mind. That sounds like an old wives tale. Probably told by people who don't understand and fear snakes. I have several snakes. Including a black one and he's never done any boogety boo magic on me. lol

OK, when snakes "charm" it is when they supposedly put their prey in a trance so it is easier to kill and eat. But no. That came from when birds would stand between their eggs and a snake, one would get eaten but the other will stay with the eggs. Charming is something snakes don't ever do.
