my bearded dragon goes through phases where she will stop eating what is wrong with her2007-11-24 2:01:32

like she will have a very healthy apetite one day, and then the next day she will not eat AT ALL and i have to pretty much shove romaine lettuce or something into her mouth and even then she tries to spit it out. should i not force her to eat? her phases last like 2-3 weeks at a time and i just want to make sure she doesn't get sick from starving herself!! and i have tried putting her in the tub and letting her swim in warm water (she always LOVES that) and she never poops or anything so maybe she is constipated?? but how do i get her to poop when she isn't eating??

HELP PLEASE I LOVE MY LITTLE CHLOE AND I DON"T LIKE TO SEE HER BEING UNHEALTHY!

If she isn't pooping, that could be the problem. I've heard of giving blocked up lizards small amounts of mineral oil to help with bowel movement. Are you sure she's not impacted? What kind of substrate is she on? It's possible she swallowed some and she's blocked up. I'm pretty sure that if you feel a hard lump in her abdomen it could be a sign of impaction. I'm no expert on impaction, but my advice would be to try the mineral oil, and if that doesn't work, take her to a good reptile vet (most vets know NOTHING about reptiles.).
