I imagine it's probably a Burmese Python. It could be a Reticulated, Rock, or Anaconda, but those are much less common.

Anyway, my feeling is if you have to ask on PetQnA.com , then you are definitely not read for a large python. Please do as much research as possible if you want to consider it, but there are many things that you should take into consideration. A 12 foot python is probably eating large rabbits right now, and can ultimately need small goats or multiple rabbits every 2-4 weeks. That can be pretty expensive for the life of the snake which can live over 30 years. Also, you will need at least one other person available to handle the snake at this point, and a second person pretty soon (general rule is 1 person per 6 feet of snake). In addition, you have to consider vet fees, neighbor reactions, landlord problems, cleaning a large amount of waste, etc.

This is not a decision to take lightly as most people that try to take on this responsibility end up releasing their snakes into the wild because the give up and are unable to find someone to take the snake.
