my eyelash crested gecko looks very weak and gray in color, what might be wrong with him2007-11-24 2:01:41
My gecko is about 4 years old and the last couple of days, he wont eat or drink or move around his cage at all. Several times we thought he was dead. He is an ugly gray color. The cage conditions are fine ie; temperature, plants, plenty of water and live crickets. Can anyone help with some suggestions. Thanks, Suzy
Answers:If you feel conditions are fine in the cage then I would definitely take the animal to an experienced herpetologist vet. The biggest mistake is waiting too long when it is already too late.
I don't want to be insensitive but it sounds like he's about ready to die. I've raised lizards for many years and when they are ready to go they get weak, discolored and won't eat. Mine have always given me a longing eye contact gaze as if to ask for help or saying goodbye. I hope this isn't the case for your gecko. But prepare yourself. If you can get him to a vet that would be great but most people cannot afford to do so for a gecko, even a loved one. Good luck to you and your gecko.
