my friend found a salamander and it died a few days after2007-11-24 2:01:42

was just wondering why it died , she tryed feeding it bugs but i dont know she left it here and forgot about the poor thing

Wild-caught Salamanders don't always do well in captivity. It probably went into shock due to being removed from it's natual environment with the changes in temperature, humidity, etc., and been unable to eat.

What type of set up did she have it in? She may not have the right set up for that type of animal.

Because wild animals die when you put them in cages. That's why if you don't know how to care for something you leave it alone.

Probably because the environment could have been different, or she could have been offering it something it doesnt eat. There's tonnes of reasons why it could have died.

the poor little guy isn't suppose to be living with humans. it must be so stressed and although your friend thinks that she's doing a good job, the best care she could give the little guy is put it back to where she found it (but know it's too late). I'd have to say it's a little cold hearted.can't she think for the poor thing?!

Well, you solved you question, never take something out of the wild and try to take care of it. If it looked fine when you found it, then it's doing fine, let it go and nature will take it's course.
