my snapping turtle wont eat lettuce2007-11-24 2:01:48

help me!! wat could i buy that he will eat! he's so used to tadpoles and one day he ate a baby crawfish, but not lettuce! HELP! i live by wal mart if that helps!!

he's not supposed to eat lettuce! he needs feeder goldfish or guppies, fresh shrimp, raw strips of chicken or beef or liver,

even strips of balogna will do

Feed fish, worms, minnows, feeder goldfish etc.

Just put them in the tank he will catch them eventually.

try kale, if that doesn't work check out a vet's office incase it might have a jaw problum.

These turtles are flesh eaters. The best thing you can do is to go to a fish bait store & pick up some minnows, shiners, nightcrawlers etc. & offer these to your turtle. You should have a very happy turtle with these food offerings.

i have six turtles and not one of them will eat lettuce, they'll eat fruit-apples, pears ,cantelopeand they love all kinds of squash, also worms, mealworms etc. try some feeder fish too.

Snappers eat a variety of meats. Young eat small fish, crustaceans, shellfish, worms, etc. You can also try chicken, etc. The link above offers lots of options and the pros and cons of many of them.

If it is a Super Wal-Mart you might get some food in the grocery store, or maybe in the goldfish or guppy tanks.

try not to feed it lettuce. try meat like a little raw hamburger meat. if no other choice rub some meat juice on the lettuce then try that.

Feeder fish. Walmart sells them. They are cheap and will breed constantly if given the chance!
