sick tree frog
My white lipped tree frog looked bloated for a couple of weeks i just thought he was getting fat.
I woke up this morning and it looks extreamly skinny litrually over night there is food avalible can anyone help?
Answers:Sounds like it has had an infection of some sort and vets advice is needed. Find a good reptile vet by ringing all your local vets as to wether they can help first.
call a vet and talk to them about it first because someone might tell you to give it some food or something and it could make it worse
It sounds like a bacterial infection and is generally caused by exposure from another sick frog or a low level of cleanliness in his environment. You can discuss it with a vet, but frogs are very tricky to treat because their skin is so porus they tend to absorb to much medication.
Aside from a trip to the vet, there are two things you can check for.
First, did your frog pass a large poop?
Next, look around it's cage- did it lay eggs? Females will bloat up and be skinny when they lay eggs.
Next, did you change it's environment so that it was frightened over the last week and not eating- which means it may have been puffed up with air (defensive posture) and wedged into something
waiting for life to calm down.
If everything checks out- no huge poop, no eggs, and no weird things happening in it's environment, get to the vet.
Hello ~ I keep these frogs as well. Soak the White Lipped Treefrog ~ Litoria infrafranata in a covered container with shallow luke warm water for 30 minutes and see if the frog gets back to its normal size.
