snake charmers
hola everyone!
i was reading Life of Pie (a great book) and he keeps mentioning snake charmers. how do they do it? and r the snakes like being hurt when doing it? any info would be great. thanks!
Answers:The first step is to keep the snakes well-fed, so they are less agressive. Then you keep them in the dark basket right up to the moment the show starts. When you remove the lid, they rear up to check out the light. The charmer arranges things so that the first thing the snake sees is the end of his flute. Snakes have no instincts to deal with flutes, so they start tracking it in case they have to bite. The charmer then smoothly swings the tip of the flute back and forth, not moving to quickly or else the snake will get mad and lunge. The tracking snake sways with the flute to keep it in bite range. They end the show by having an asisstant come up and quickly push the lid back down on the basket.
The snakes don't seem to mind, but I"ve never spoken to one personally to find out:)

there isnt really snake charmers, its all a myth. snakes cant even hear there instruments that they play to so called bring them out of the basket. they hear vibrations
there are no true snake charmers the snakes most of the time have had there fangs ripped out and are dieng a slow death they cannot hear the instrument, they hear only vibrations. you can "charm" these cobras with a stick. they are just following the movement of the charmer.
