its gonna die. my little brothers caught a salamander once and it died. in an hour. (but i think of dehydration) make sure you WATER IT! and feed it whatever it was near to. better yet, go back to the place where you found it, see what kind of bugs and plant life are growing there, and buy whatever you found, or catch it. reccomendation (general): crickets (but not big ones. those are hard to catch and are freaky and are impossible to fit in the salamander's mouth).

crickets, very small insects, meal worms, but make sure you cut the heads off of the meal worms or they will eat the lizard alive.if its a water one then just get some newt food at the pet store

They eat earthworms, insects, slugs, snails and small beetles. We used to catch them at girl scout camp and they mostly ate the earthworms we were supposed to use for fishing.

Salamanders are carnivores so they will only eat meat. Salamanders will eat crickets, worms, moths, and butterflies. Some salamanders like the Hellbender eat small fish. Get crickets from the pet store because if a cricket you caught was sprayed with any chemical your salamander can get sick and die. If you want to feed your salamander worms get night crawlers because they last long. If your salamander gets fat don't feed him for a wile but that is only if they are really fat. To feed salamanders worms hold a worm by one end until it grabs it in it's mouth. I wouldn't feed a salamander crickets because it costs a lot to get the things they need.
