anything i could do to make her more dosile or less agressive
Answers:It has not been my experience that red tails are very agressive by nature, however this always varies from snake to snake. How long have you had her? Do you know if she was handles much before. These can be important clues as to wether she is agressive by nature or just not used to being handled. So now, If you are just dropping in a rat or whatever prey you are feeding her, how is it that you are getting bit? Also, you may try removing her from the cage ( if you can) and feeding her somewhere else or putting her back in once the food is in there. The thing with snakes that are not handled enough is that they begin to associate the opening of the cage with feeding time. You need to change this somehow. Also do not, lower her temprature just to make her more sluggish. This is not fair to the snake. The best time to try to handle her is for sure after she has been well fed and is no longer in hunger mode. Good luck with yer girl. :)
normally the more attention you pay to them, the less aggressive they are. but that just goes for when you get them as babies. i'm not sure if you can teach an old snake new tricks.
keep her well fed or lower the temp, that will deffinitely slow her down, plus you sure shes not getting to go into the sheding mode
Get her out and handle her alot. You will probably get bit a few times but just stay calm and don't jurk around. After a little while she will begin to understand that you are not a threat and stop bitting. If this does not work (or if you don't feel like getting bit repeatedly) try giving her a bath in warm water.
welcome ti the world of central american boas.. They have much more of a agressive reputation unlike there columbian counterparts. Just work with her and work with your handleing tecnique ..
