Answers:Turtles can die from not having a basking lamp and not having a flourescent uvb bulb and stress and being cramped in a tank that is too small and dirty water can cause death. The rule for waterturtles is 10 gallons PER inch of turtle. Besides needing a basking light overtop of a land area, they also need a uvb bulb so they can absorb calcium other wise they will get metabolic bone disease.
Diseases turtles can get are
respiratory infections- can be spread from turtle to turtle and is caused by not having a correct thermal gradient
fungal infections/bacterial infections/ shell rot- caused by dirty water
metabolic bone disease/ soft shell - not having a uvb bulb and not having a balanced and correct diet
