why is my baby beardie skinny and the other one isnt
one of my baby beardie is thinner than the other the other one is a little bit bigger and it eats healthier
Answers:The first thing to do is to take them to a certified reptile vet to check for parasites.
Things you can do at home
* seperate them so they both get equal access to food.
* Add benebac to their diet. You may have to look for it in the bird section of your petstore (it's the same product as the reptile version). Benebac helps the digestive tract.
* Offer different foods, not everyone likes the same things.
Well maybe it was born different
I think you just answered your own question.
because i think the healtheir one is not letting the thinner one eat. if there different sexes then u have to get them each a cage to make them happy. or if there female and male, they could just not get along. and still have to get two different cages.
one probly hogs/ eats most of the food. seperate when they eat
simple: competition. watch over their feedng , and make sure the other gets its share
many times you do have to seperate them because one gets more food then the other. Even as young babies they show this kind of behavior.
This happened to me. I got two brothers and Loki grew normally, Smaug stayed fairly thin. I took them both to the vet, who is a reptile specialist. She told me that they both had had metabolic disease and told me how to adjust their diet to help. Smaug did die from not being able to metabolize nutrients propertly, the disease was too far along to save him, but I was able to save Loki (who is doing just fine)
Anyway, I suggest you take both of your babies to the vet - must be a reptile specialist. You are looking at $150-200 vist for both of them to have a check up.
If your skinny beardie does have metabolic disease like mine did, the sooner you get it in, the better the change to save it.
PS.yes, there will be slight differences in related dragons when it comes to size, but if one is noticabley thin, you most likely have a heath issue.
when your feeding them id put them in diffrent tanks.one may be eating more then the other.sorry i dont know too much about lizards im a snake person
