why is there black worms in my turtle tank2007-11-24 2:05:05

clean tank every week, water gets cloudy fast, should i change everything in the tank including the rocks?

Answers:

LOL.It's your turtle's poop. Just fish it out with a net before it breaks down and makes the water murky and dirty.

Dont know
turtles for thier best health need three seperate areas of water. One for feeding/drinking, one for defication, and one for basking/relaxation. yes, a HUGE tank. And in between these 3 seperate areas, land for basking. because most people cannot and do not provide these areas, things like this happen.

start cleaning. EVERYTHING. scrub, scrub, scrub. start brand new! clean and change the water in the tank at LEAST every other day, better yet daily

Are you sure they're worms and not turtle poop?
if they're very tiny worms, sounds like your turtle has internal parasites.

Do you have a filtration system? I don't know too much about water chemistry. but the water getting cloudy is a natural part of the biological cycle of a healthy tank. If you fully clean it every week, then the entire cycle has to start from scratch every time. You really need a filter with chemical, mechanical and biological filtration. The biological filtration is usually accomplished with a sponge to provide a large surface area for benificial bacteria to grow.

it sounds like leaches
start cleaning,as somebody says for a turtle the water has to be changed every day, if you don't have a serious water filtering and replaceing system. The turtle excrement it's very harmfull for the animal,as its destroying hes shield, causing the turtle death.Check the shield with your nail gently, it should be hard. This for young turtles in special, but its alvailable for oldest too, which are not so sensitive.
Hi, Ya i think you should change everything, i mean what if something has a bad grerm on it or maybe your turtle is sick? You should take it to the vet in case and to get his\her advice to do with your turtle?
1. If the turtle was wild-caught it is almost certainly full of parasites. your vet can offr some tablets that will help with this.
