2 female and 2 male guinea pigs to breed
i have 2 female and 2 male guinea pig which i am going to breed once they are both pregnant can they still stay together in same cage and have they babies together or will they need splitting and are they ok to go back with each other after they have given birth thanks
Answers:Can I ask why you would want to breed your piggies? There are so many homeless piggies sitting in rescues & shelters. Why would you intentionally add to this population problem?
If you're doing it for money, please go find a part time job. If you're doing it just because you like cute piggie babies, please go adopt some from a shelter or rescue!
Did you know that every time you breed a sow, she has a good chance of dying? Do you want to risk your sows' lives?
Please read http://www.guinealynx.info/breeding.html... AND http://www.cavyspirit.com/breeding.htm... before you do this.
Please don't breed or buy while shelter piggies die.
the males have to be removed and i'm not sure about the females and the babies. My guinea pig had a baby and we keep the mom and baby in one cage, but i do know u can keep the babies together so i would expect the mom too then after 2 to three week the babies could have babies so removed them before that
Ok, here are your answers:
1). Can they stay in the same cage once they are pregnant? = No. Guinea pigs can get very mad if someone (or another piggy!), tries to touch one of their baby guinea pigs. I would suggest buying another cage.
