i want to get 2 guinea pigs to put in my own room. i've researched and i am planning to write an essay on them including care, time i will spend with it, plans for floor time etc. i am 13 yrs old and spend most of my time in my room. please consider all the conditions in the webpage and tell me whether it is ok for me to hve 2 guinea pigs in my room. ask any questions if u need them. i'll answer as soon as i can.

There wouldn't be a problem with you keeping your guinea pigs in your bedroom as long as your parents are fully supporting you and are monitoring their care. The problem with some people is that parents get a guinea pig for their kids, put it in the child's bedroom and then forget about it, as if it were a toy that could be put away when you've finished playing with it. Guinea pigs are fine to live in bedrooms providing they are cleaned out regularly, kept on suitable bedding and have a large enough cage- www.guineapigcages.com is an excellent website about cage sizes and the other pages on there have a lot of information about guinea pig care. Unfortunately a lot of pet shop advice is incorrect and not always the best thing for your pet (remember, these people are trying to make money, so they may sell you things for that reason rather than with your pets' best interests at heart, and pet shop employees are often not properly qualified to tell you about animal care). Pet shop cages are also typically far too small and more expensive than making a cage yourself so definitely consider that as your best option.
