I expect you've read this if you've visited the Cavy Spirit site, but please consider adopting a pig from a shelter if you haven't thought about this already- there are lots of homeless pigs in need of good new owners!
It sounds to me like you are old enough to care for the pets yourself, but obviously you are relying on your parents financially for them (and remember the possibilities of emergency vet bills) and they need to fully support you wanting to get a pet. Good luck with your continuing research :)
i am 13 too! I spend alot of m time in my room, i had my guinea pig in my room to, but i stopt paying it attition because he got boring, i wish tough i could have taken better care of him though before he died
Okay, I was researching to get guinea pigs too and the websites stress too much about their needs, actually guinea pigs are really calm some even like to sleep all day, what you do NEED to do is feed and have clean water every day, if you slip a couple times just make sure you feed them extra :)
And for the cage you only have to clean one a week, like I clean every Sunday, but it matters if you have good bedding or not.
Oh and remember this they get bigger so you might need to upgrade their cage and toys!
Good Luck :)
i dont think it should be a problem. but for the best advice you can go to any online encyclopedia and look up guinea pigs, what there habits are and how much space they need. or you can prob just ask the guy at the store
it's really up to you i have guinea pigs and they can be really messy and smelly they need to go out side and enjoy the sunshine and eat nature but good luck and enjoy your piggy
Its a good idea. Just remember that they are going to be around alot longer than the due date of your essay. They aren't smelly as long as you clean out their hutch every 3-5 days. I would recommend carefresh as it soaks up the urine and minimises the amount that it smells. The only problem with having them in your room is that you will need a pretty big hutch for 2 guinea pigs, unless you have them in an average sized hutch and bring them out for floor time every day.
