A few questions on guinea pigs please answer
im getting two females (and dont worry, im adopting) but i have a few questions:
#1: if its thunderstorming, or somthing that might be scary to a pig, is it ok to take it out and cuddle with it to comfort it? any other suggestions?
#2:can i introduce it to my friends guinea pig for playdates, even though they wont be living together? if they see each other about every month, will i keep having to re-introduce them or will they remember each other?
any other tips or suggestions would help
thank you
Answers:You can cuddle your pig anytime you want to. I prefer to leave my pigs alone if they are hiding in their pigloos or under their lofts. That's where they hide when they are scared and they feel safe there. It's up to you and your pig's comfort. You knw your pigs the best.
In my opinion, I wouldn't bother with "play dates". If you are not 100% sure that both pigs are mite free and illness free, then no way. It is risky anyway. It would be like introducing them every time. They are not going to remember each other from previous times. Possibly you could set up seperate pens side by side so that they could see each other and talk, touch noses, ets w/out there being any territory issues.
1. if they like to cuddle then of course! :D
2.probably, just make sure to watch them. and I think they might remember eachother but i'm not sure.
good luck!
1. i always took my guinea pigs out when it was thunderstorming. they would squeal, and i could hear them from upstairs, so usually i would either cuddle them with a blanket (toasty warm!), or if it was really late, i would put a blanket over their cages.
