A pet rat
I have been trying to convince my parents to get me a rat, but they won't. I've had TONS of hamsters so I'm familiar with rodents and I LOVE rats, but for some reason my mom keeps saying no because SHE doesn't like their tail.
It's a stupid reason, I think. How can I convince them to let me have one?
Answers:I've actually had 5 pet rats in the last 4 years. The average life span is about 2-4 years and the oldest rat to ever live was 8.
They make REALLY awesome pets and you can let them around your house and they're really funny to watch.
You can litterbox train them and teach them commands.Trust me, two of the five we owned were hyper, or as we joked, said they were ADD or something, and they were hilarious.
Trust, get your parents to do some research and they'll fall in love with the little critters.
i dont know but i have 27 rats

Btw spazrats is a Y!A user and is excellent to talk to about anything rat-related.
Take them to petsmart and have an associate tell them how great rats are as pets. They are extremely intelligent, can be potty trained, learn tricks, and are calm and affectionate. They come in different colours and tend not to bite like hamsters. They are also much cleaner then hamsters, grooming themselves almost constantly. If you are really serious about getting a rat. tail-less varieties are available, but they are quite expensive. http://www.ratspacnw.org/images/tailless...
