ARGHH my hamster just had babies, they are ugly2007-11-24 21:58:12

oh god, i have been asking questions cuz I thought my hamster was pregnant when I bought her and I guess I was right, I havent seen properly but it looks as if there is about 20 of them!!

I was on the computer and heard my little cousin say "there cute" I thought what the hell is he on about "they" I looked and seen these ugly little red things, the mum was sitting in her wheel but now shes on top of them I think keeping them warm

what if she eats them? do I give her more food? if I do when I open the door what if she eats them??

argh help im freaking out, I dunno why I think its because I have heard storys about the mum eating them

Answers:

Baby hamsters are UGLY but will get cute very quickly. If the mom decides to eat them... that's gross but not much you can do, as they will die anyway if you take them away from her. Just leave mom alone, and see what happenes!

Well i have had the same problem but with mice which can be alot worse. As long as you make sure that there is enough food for her their is nothing to worry about. i acctually found that the dad eats more babies than the mom does. But all in all you should be fine! =]

O.K. Dont freak out, give her alot of food, but dont try to play with her or touch her or her babies. Make Sure she is in a warm invironment. Just dont try to play with her or touch the babies.

my hamster had babies but i cant remember much as it was years ago, how about just dropping food in through the bars so you dont actually put your hand in? just an idea?
