I know that hedgehogs aren't rodents, but they aren't cats, dogs, reptiles, or birds, or horses either. Anyway, how can I find a breeder online maybe one who ships animals. What size cage does it need, what is a good online store to buy things for them, etc. I have checked all the local pet stores and even the petsmart near me and they don't have anything and they NEVER have hedgehogs, so my only option is shipping.

First off, try petfinder.com to see if there are any hedgehogs available at your local shelters.

Second, look in small animal magazines or do a google search for breeders in your area. Do not get a hedgehog shipped to you. It can cause a lot of stress on the animal, which can lead to health problems, injuries, or death. Always visit the breeders home to see how they take care of their hedgehogs. Do not buy one if the breeder keeps them in dirty cages, does not let you see where they are kept, does not let you hold the one you are interested in ,or does not offer a health guarentee.

It needs a good size cage. A glass aquarium should be a 40 breeder or larger. A metal wire cage should be one designed for rabbits or guinea pigs and should have a solid bottom.

Try amazon.com, petco.com, or petsmart.com to purchase supplies.

Your only option is not shipping, it just might take you longer to find someone local. A breeder, shelter, or private party is your best bet. It is safer for the animal.
