About the guinea pigs vit c
i know that oranges and other foods have some vitamin c in it but i dont want to give them two many oranges because fruit is supposed to be in moderation. but is two slices a week enough? and ive heard of vit.c tablets and chews but were can you get them? petco or petsmart? also the brands and names of them would help when i buy them. thank you
Answers:broccoli is good too
give it a mixture of fruit and veg, no need for supplaments
Please don't use the Vitamin C supplements like tablets or water drops. They are simply unneeded and can cause the guinea pig to dislike the water, which in turn causes dehydration.
Vegetables are the best way to go. I feed our girls romaine lettuce, bell peppers, cilantro, ect. They also love to eat corn husks and silks, the outer edges of melons, carrots, and cherries without pits. These last few things are treats and given to the guinea pigs sparingly. Fruits also follow under the treat category, like oranges.
This Guinea Lynx article refers you to the vegetables that the guinea pigs can eat ( http://www.guinealynx.com/diet_vegs.html... )
I have a guinea pig. I give him one orange slice every other day. I sometimes give him these pills sometimes that are Vitamin C pills. Here is all of the information on the container that they are in:
