Adding Dwarf Hamster

Adding Dwarf Hamster2007-11-24 21:57:24

I've had a female dwarf hamster for a week and decided to get another for it to have company. Well, first, I introduced a female fancy dwarf hamster. (I don't know what fancy means, but yeah...) They fought horribly and the fancy one ate through the box and a suitcase. We ended up returning that one since it didn't get along well and bit our dwarf hamster. We decided to get another female dwarf hamster. Now, it seems as though the first one is territorial. It jumps at the new one and the new one just squeals horribly. What can I do to make them get along? Please help.

Your hamster obviously doesn't want a play-mate to live with. Don't keep trying because 1 your wasting your money and 2 your hamster may get hurt in the process. I HIGHLY SUGGEST JUST LEAVING IT SOLO! To make it happy just play with it more because if you keep getting more hamsters its just causing more fights.

well..you should take the one you just got back...take your hamster with you and let her pick out her new friend...trust me..she'll find the one that she fits perfect with...and if that's not the place she finds a friend...theres hundreds of more out there...
Although dwarf hamsters can live in pairs or groups it is not unusual for them to fall out and it can be hard to introduce two adults. I think it is probably best to accept that your hamster will need to live on her own. Just make sure that you give her plenty of attention to make up for the lack of hamster company.
The case is that your hamster wont accept any FEMALE play-mate.I think you can introduce a male one,but the relationship may not remain as play-mate...Well,it's another problem...
you cant just put the 2 together, you have to go thru long process
