I have the father with me but i am not sure where to put him.Any ideas?!?I think the new mother is still giving birth.BUT i really need to chang the beding it is sooo dirty Help Me PLEASSE!!how should i change it the pups are barly a few minutes old HELP TIPS PLEASE

Answers:

1st seperate the father or you'll have more babies in about 3 weeks, then I would not change bedding as this has been stressful for the mother (and you too:-) if she gets to stressed or feels she cannot protect them she will kill the babies (though I have not had this happen thank God) so not a good idea, unless you put some clean bedding on the other side of the cage and hope she moves, then you can clean her real bedding. After two weeks you should be able to clean the bedding really good, and if the mother lets you you can pick them up! Make sure you seperate girls from boys by 5 weeks and all the young by 12 weeks (if they are Syrians) or they will fight as they are solitary, Good Luck!

IF YOU GET ANYWHERE NEER THOSE BABIES, THE MOTHER WILL EAT THEM THINKING SHES PROTECTING THEM. PUT THE FATHER IN A SPERATE CAGE! IF YOU DONT HAVE ONE HE SHOULD BE FINE FOR THE NIGHT, JUST KEEP AN EYE ON HIM!! BUT DONT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES GO NEER THE BABIES!

what i did was that when the mother was sleeping, i took the bedding out from the other side of the cage of where she was. eventually i got near to the place where she was, and i was able to change the whole tank. but my hamster knew me and climbs up on my hands even when she has babies. so it was quite easy for me, but if you hamster gets scared, i would suggest only cleaning the other part of the cage. maybe if she gets up, you can sneak a handful of bedding out. put the father in a diff cage. after that, dont change the bedding at all until the pups are weaned

In a day or two, you can put some clean bedding at the other end of the cage. the momma may move the babies to the clean area later. or she may move the new bedding to her current area. DO NOT MESS with the babies.
