my guinea pig loves clovers, but are they good for him?

and why my GP doesnt likes cucumbers and apples anymore?

Answers:

Yes - clovers are fine.

He doesn't like cucumbers and apples anymore because you need to vary his diet - if you give him them everyday he is bound to get bored of the same food! Try carrots, cabbage, grapes, grass, kale, celery and tomatoes.

Stay away from Iceberg lettuce - they are very watery so not good and have very little minerals in.

Yes, clover, fresh grass, and dandelions (leaves, stem & flower) are fine for your piggie. Make sure whatever forages you allow him to eat are clean though. They should not come from any area that has been treated with fertilizer or pesticides. They should also not come from any roadside area, as they would be contaminated with car fumes, oily dirt, etc.

Too much of any one veggie could cause diarrhea or mushy poos. Iceburg lettuce & celery are big culprits. Also, never feed your piggie pototoes, onions or any bulb type of plant. They can be poisonous to them.

Piggies have their likes and dislikes for certain foods, just like we do! I have had piggies that liked orange slices & now won't touch them. I have another that won't eat anything but parsley STEMS (no leaves, no lettuce, nothing!). I have also had piggies that previously turned down foods only to decide they *do* like them, months later. So keep trying different things!
