Are female hamsters more evil than males
mine is awful she bites and squeaks not like my old hamster Otis (R.I.P) who was a male, if they are how can i get her to STOP!
Answers:I've never noticed a significant difference in temperament based on gender in a decade of working with and keeping hamsters.
Try seeing things from the perspective of your pet. A hamster is a keystone species in the wood web. That means that alot of things eat it. This is why hamsters are so prolific and tend to have a bad attitude.
The hamster sees your hand as another predator that may try to eat it.
I've found that the best method for taming a rumbunctious/nippy hamster is to sit down with it on the floor and make a barrier around yourself with several blankets/sleeping bags. Then just let the little thing roam around you. Offer your hand for it to sniff but don't try to pick it up at first. Have a towel handy with wich you can cover/pick up the animal with if it needs to be returned to its cage. It doesn't hurt to have some treats around as well (sunflower seeds, pieces of carrot, raisins).
If you work with your hamster consistently for a few weeks it should tame down. It takes just takes some patience and mutual respect. Remember, friendship isn't something that happens right away, it has to be earned.
That's a really dumb question...
hamsters are not evil
some animals have BAD tempers
o no females are alot nicer than males . i wouldnt no how to make the hamster be nice ive had 5 hamsters they were all girls and all nice. hope it helps .Connor
For heaven's sake's your hamster has a BEHAVIOR PROBLEM it is not EVIL!!
make sure you dont eat then hold her because if she can smell food on your hands it may be her reason for biting. also if it hurts like, ALOT, it may be because she has long sharp teeth, it would probably be a good idea to go to your local pet store to get wood chews or just a treat that will be hard enough to keep her teeth worn because they constantly grow. i dont think it has anything to do with the gender. just keep handling her. i used to have alot of hamsters and i had to even wear gloves sometimes untill they got used to me, especially with the babys because they have really sharp teeth. hope this helps:)
They say that hamsters are just plain mean no matter what sex they are. Here are the mean rodents,Girbles and hamsters.
Usually males are more aggressive there for, might be a bit meaner.
I currently have a female hamster but I've also had a male. I think she's just as sweet, if not, sweeter than him. She is a hyper little thing though and very picky about her housekeeping. Though my hamster doesn't seem to be a problem, my friend used to have a female hamster who was a nasty little thing. She'd escape, bite, screech if you touched her, etc. I'm not sure how to solve the problem because i've never been through it, but I'd recommend maybe giving her no attention while she's being nasty and when she starts getting nasty put her back in her cage and hopefully she'll learn that biting and squeaking gets me no attention. If that doesn't seem to work you can try consulting your vet and see what they reccomend. Good luck!
