Are multi storey cages good for guinea pigs2007-11-24 21:57:59

i am getting 2 piggys and i saw a very big cage that was 2 storeys.here r some cage i might get for my piggys when i get them.tell me if there good please.

tyvm and it has to be either a cage from petco or petsmart sorry. my said so =( but they have huge cages that arent online

Those cages look very small, please see www.guineapigcages.com for the minimum size requirements.

Two storey cages can be suitable but the maximum space must be acheived on the bottom level (as this is the space they should have for running round laps of the cage), and space on upper levels should be in addition to this. Guinea pigs don't climb so ramps must not be very steep and should have sides to prevent the guinea pig falling from an upper level.

[edit] Those cages you've added are far too small- if your mother isn't prepared to let you get a suitable cage then you really shouldn't be getting guinea pigs. You don't have to order a cage off the internet, the c&c cages on guineapigcages.com are ones you build yourself- it's very easily to do, the materials are cheap and easy to get hold of, the cage can be made to fit your needs and will also be big enough for your new pets, unlike the pet shop cages you seem to be so keen on buying.

No, please don't. Piggies are not climbers and they can slip and fall and hurt their backs. Piggies like to stay on the ground, so just get the biggest one story cage you can and put lots of fun stuff in it for them and they'll be happy. Make sure you get 2 girls because 2 boys will fight and one of each will make a whole lot of babies!

None of those cages is adequate in the least. Your best bet is to build a C&C cage of your own. Please do not waste your money on a pet store cage.
