Are there good reasons to be afraid of rats/mice2007-11-24 21:58:07

see, i live up in the mountains so there are quite a few of mice. in fact there's one in the house and i'm so terrified!! its 1am, is it true they fit under the doors? is there really a reason to be afraid?

Answers:

no need to lose sleep dude you'll be ok. Just dont have any food or whicker baskets in your room. they can obviously fit under your door... just put a wind stopper under it! they wont go into your room anyway. they'll probably hang around the kitchen like under the fridge or behind it or in the cupboards.

As a person who once had a phobia of rodents, I can feel for you. However, as I have gotten older I realize they are more scared of me. Yes - they can fit under doors. Unless you are planning to pick one up, no reason to be afraid.

In and around cities, there is good reason to be afraid of mice because of the possible transmission of a pandemic infection.

Out in the country though it is unlikely those mice would have come into contact with any harmful pathogen to you.

(exception for South Dakota where the plague virus springs up from time to time in rodent populations)

umm yeah they r disgusting they carry soooo many diseases but sorry i really don't know but i'm pretty sure they can't fit under the door

Well, there is always the risk that one may defecate in your ear while you sleep. Other than that I think you are quite safe.

Disease mainly, when I lived in NYC (rat central!) They were everywhere.You can set humane traps, make sure you have any entry ways they can get in blocked, like holes in the wall, open drains,places like that.
