Are there two kinds of puring sounds in guinea pigs2007-11-24 21:58:08

when a guinea pig purs, it means that they are happy. but on some website I heard a sound with a meaning something like 'go away' and my guinea pig does the same kind of sound when I hold him. ok if he only purs but the sound of him that sound on website matches. he really wants me to 'go away'?

Answers:

I have two guinea pigs, and one of them doesn't like the other. Whenever that one comes near him, he starts making a chirping sound.

However, when I pet them, they make a purring / chuckling sound, which means they like it.

And the 'happy pig' and the 'keep away' sound very similar so you'll just have to listen closely to both. My pig doesn't like to be held but he likes to sit next to me and snuggle. So if it turns out yours is saying 'go away' he may just not like being held.

Bubbling or Purring - This sound is made when the guinea pig is enjoying itself, such as when being petted or held. They may also make this sound when grooming, crawling around to investigate a new place, or when given food.

yes actaully, yes. i have guinea pigs and wen they fight they purr. when u pet them and they purr theyre happy bcuz they kind of vibrate, but they dont vibrate wen theyre fighting. theyre also is sumthin girl guinea pigs do which is like the period of a woman. i hope everything goes well with your guinea pig friend and you! :)

its mating season so thats why its puring get it a little partner i just looked it up
