Are these bad for gerbils2007-11-24 21:58:09

I bought these treat sticks for my gerbils for their B-days. I heard they were bad for them though, and cause diabetes! Is that true? I really don't want my gerbils to get sick, one is already 2 years old, and the other is one year old. They are in different cages, because they don't get along. Happy (my 2 year old gerbil) got his on august 11th (his B-day). And Autumn (my one year old) got his on august 13th (his B-day). one of my gerbils lived for nearly 5 years..i gave her those treats every so often, i have had lots of gerbils and all have lived for many years, treats are ok every so often i even left the long hangiing stick treats in the cage they dont always eat them.

I would not try it...it sounds like you really care about Happy and Autum. My gerbils died and I was very sad...Your gerbils might suffer from diabetes and die slowly and sadly. Good Luck!

Does it say on the box and or bag that gerbils can eat it? Its for hamsters sooo I say dont feed it to your gerbils if I were you
