Are yogurt treat drops bad for guinea pigs2007-11-24 21:58:11

Sometimes for treats if feed my guinea pigs yogurt drops. are these bad for them, i never thought they were. please answer!

Um.The ones made especially for guinea pigs are fine. They are pretty balanced and can be a good treat to use when training. But the thing is to remember to give it to them sparingly, it's kinda like crack for guinea pigs.

I was reading some of the posts above...ya'll do know yogurt drops mean the pet kind right? As in not w. raisins and for people... If you get the right kind it's made from goat not cow milk, which is better for them.

find out if guinea pigs produce the enzyme lactace. If not it could be a problem. Just give them raisins instead.

No they are not bad for them. I had guinea pigs and I used to feed them baby carrots and alfalfa for treats. It just depends on what your particular guinea likes. If he/she likes yogurt drops for treats, then by all means give them to him/her.

Consider them guinea pig candy.

The sugar levels are pretty high, so it's a great treat, but too much will make the piggies fat.
