Are you suposed to give rabbits baths2007-11-24 21:58:11Answers:
My boyfriend found a wild bunny once and bathed him, and he did ok. My sister also bathed her hamster, and he did ok. This is not an expert answer, of course, but my guess would be to keep the bunny's face dry, to use a very mild soap, and to make sure you dry him off all the way.
Oh sure, they love to be all lathered up.
You don't have to unless they spend a lot of time outside. Make sure to brush it every now and then, though.
No. Rabbits, unless they are sick or not normal, are naturally able to groom themselves by licking and pawing their own bodies to get rid of any dirt, etc. Pet rabbits are generally quite clean, and I would not advise you groom them yourself if you absolutely have to. A rabbit's skin and ears are very sensitive, and soap can harm them if you aren't sure how to bathe them yourself. You should NOT need to bathe a rabbit! If you do, call the vet!
You can, but just be careful not to get it up it's nose or in its eyes, or ears. It is best if you not give it baths because, like cats they lick themselves. So, you can..But they dont really like it and if you get soap or wetness into thier eyes, ears, mouth or nose then you have a serious problem. It can get infected, or worse.
So, what I suggest that you dont give it baths, because, as I said, they bathe themselves.
Why do you want to bathe the bunny? I highly suggest you do not do it unless you are absolutely sure you know what you are doing and take necessary precautions. If you get even 1 drop of water in a rabbit's ear which gets down deep into the ear canal, that rabbit may develop a very serious ear infection leading to nerve damage and lameness. I have seen this happen twice. When a rabbit's ear is infected, often you don't know until it is too late because their canals are so deep and you can not see down into it. Eventually when an infection develops they will begin to hop funny and by then it may be "too late". Please speak to a vet or breeder who has a lot of rabbit experience before doing any bathing.
I would not do this very often though it is ok.
Not regularly. But they do sell rabbit shampoo at petco.
ONLY bathe him if he's dirty, or he smells.
pet rabbits naturally groom themselves to get rid of the dirt from their fur. however, unlike cats, they can't spit out furballs once they have swollowed to much of their own hair, so petting or brushing your pet for a few minutes might help get the excess hair of. dont' bath it though. if it's that dirty then take it to your vet.
