Aspen or carfresh guinea pig owners ONLY please2007-11-24 21:58:13

im getting all of my guinea pig suppies tommorow and i want to know which is better.

please do not tell me to get pine or cedar. ceder is bad for the guinea pig and i dont want to get the wrong kind of pine. also i cant use fleace becase it is too expensive and they dont sell it at the pet store.

I would definitely go with Carefresh. This is what I use for my animals and it works GREAT! It absorbs ordor so quickly and efficiently. Aspen is okay, but nothing beats the odor-blocking power of Carefresh. If your guinea pig is a little sensitive, Carefresh even makes an Ultra brand with extra softness and odor protection. Carefresh may seem to cost more in the beginning, but in the long run it is worth it.

Carefresh is OK, in some Piggy's it causes respiratory problems due to the fact that it is very dusty and what not. I tend to lean towards Aspen in terms of preference. Aspen soaks up the urine, has no aromatic oils, is not dusty, is comfy and perfectly safe for your guinea pig. I place newspaper underneath the aspen though, this means that when it comes to cleaning all that I have to do is wrap everything up and it helps retain heat. It comes down to personal preference in the end, but I prefer aspen.

Carefresh or Aspen? That's a matter of preference, really. A lot of people love Carefresh. Not me. I find it too dusty (even the ultra) and one of my pigs has breathing problems when bedded on it. I use Aspen. It's cheaper than Carefresh and works well for me. There are no dangerous oils or aromas in Aspen and is totally safe.
