At what age can you tell the sex of a rat2007-11-24 21:58:15

i think my baby rat is a girl, at the shop they said that she probebly was a girl. she is now 4wks old. at what age do i know that she is definetly a girl?

Answers:

I can tell from birth if a rat is a male or a female. But at 4 weeks you should know whether you have a male or a female.

if the answer to the above question is "no", then (hopefully) it's a girl.

what kind of rodent do you have anyway?

-if it's a hamster i suppose you could really see the difference if its already not that fragile and it already has its fur, it's already possible for you to see its gender. if you just hold it at its neck and turn him or her at his or her stomach so you could see its under =P if there's a balls sorry for the term anyway... its a boy i assure, if you can't almost see a thing it's a girl... well i hope that i did help...

The males you-know-what get HUGE by the age of 2 months or so. With my very first rat, I was told she was a girl. I named her Leila, only to find out about a month later that she was a HE. We still called him Leila, lol.

you can tell when they are really young...if they have big nuts they are a boy. lol. rats have HUGE family jewels. when they are full grown they are like 1 inch. daaang.
