At what age do Gerbils start to chew and eat a variety of foods2007-11-24 21:58:15
I have two gerbils (Green, and G. B.) they don't chew things at all. And they don't know fruits and vegetables.. I put them in there and they don't touch them. Is there something wrong?
Answers:They usually start chewing solid foods from about 1-2 months old.
How old are they? They might not have teeth yet. Did you just get them? Maybe they aren't ready to chew on things. Where did you get them? Maybe they aren't used to having fruits and chew toys in there cage. If you have any questions, feel free to emal me!
nope they will surivive on that mix u feed them
they cn have fruit 1 time a week
they get sick if ya do
They know when they need to chew and when their teeth are too long; as long as you provide them chewing outlets you're doing the right thing. It could just be that their pellets are hard enough to fulfill all their chewing needs. Give them fresh hay, too, so they can chew on that and still be able to digest it.
And it's not a terrible thing if they don't eat fruit and vegetables; all animals have different tastes and it saves on their calories. Just keep something small and fresh accessible just in case they decide to get curious. I'm sure they're still very happy!
Well gerbils don't really have a specific age they really just start chewing whenever. But if you start to see them chewing on the cage put something else in the cage they can chew on.
