At what age to rats start breeding2007-11-24 21:58:16Answers:

They are able to breed as early as 5 weeks, which surprises a lot of folks. Be sure to keep males and females separated after that time unless they're spayed or neutered. Otherwise, you'll almost assuredly end up with a pregnant female.

The minute they stop nursing. alot of times they impregnant mom or sisters before they find new homes.
Female rats have to be bred before they turn 8 months old if you dont, there is a much HIGHER rick in a cenarian section, wich isnt good. So if you want to breed your rat do it before she is 8months for the first time, but you can breed her after eight months if you have bred her once before.
They have to be at least 4 months old. But I'd wait a little longer, because if she's small, she might have a harder time giving birth.
