Awall hamster how can i catch her/ help2007-11-24 21:58:16

my kids hamster is on the loose in my house i put the cage in the floor with food and water ,doors oopen...also put a water bowl in the kitchen ands some bread aroiund the house so she wont starve i have a full basement too any ideas on finding her??

That used to happen to us a lot. We just put a ladder like thing against a bucket. In the bucket put a towel and lay some carrots, and food in there and that way she goes up the ladder, falls into the bucket (she wont get hurt if u put the towel in there to cushen her) and she gets her food and you get her :P

try and keep the only food source in the cage...

if she finds lots of food around the house, there's no need for her to come back into it...

you may not find her,.if you have that much space for her to hide in...try watching for areas that have droppings etc...and maybe you'll be able to track her down..good luck

well since my chinchilla escaped (now found) I've had that problem too.what you did with the water and food was Good.when you leave the house try to close every bedroom door that you've inspected and when you are finally ready to leave try not to make the door go al the way open just make it go until where you can it while doing that look at where you're going if you cant find him try to look every where again.

not sure my daughter has one and we make her keep her bedroom door shut and it got loose but was easy to find because we had her door closed I would wait until tonight turn off alot of light keep the house dim and look for it you will probably find it better at night

Mouse trap..just kidding. The first idea and the bucket idea have worked for me. My hampster escaped so much that we started keeping a trash can with treats and toys on each end of the dresser her cage was on and it was like she jumped right in...if she wasn't in her cage she'd be in the can!

keep all the doors shut and make sure when u go out the front or back door that she doesnt run out.

u could also get everyone in different rooms then switch all the tv off and everything radio an eveything then listening out for sounds that sometimes works.
