Baby Gerbils Coloring
I own a litter of 3 baby gerbils, one baby is black and two are a grayish color. The parents have a history of black and brown coloring. I was wondering what color the grey babies will be as they get older and mature.
Answers:Maybe white, possibly still grey. But keep in mind that any animal could have a dominant and recessive trait, meaning they could have a trait that doesn't show physically, but is in the genes.
Here is a table that you could use to determine the color of future kin:
D d
D__|__
d __|__
It works like a times table. D=Dominant trait, d=recessive trait. D*d=Dd, and they will probably have the dominant trait (7/8 chance). D*D=DD, definately dominant trait. d*d=dd, and they wil have the recessive, which turns to dominant.
OK I'm done. Hope this helps.
they will probably be black or gray.
WHY does it matter?!?!?!
Ure grey gerbils will grow to probably be a gray white mixtur or light grey on ure gerbils stomach and dark on back!!
Hope tis helps!
