Baby bunny help What do I do
My mom and I just found two baby bunnies (they are about 3.5 inches long and have soft fur). They are on opposite sides of my house and are too scared too move. It seems as if something happened to their mother (we used to have a bunny who lived in the bushes out side of our house-Haven't seen her in a while.) We haven't touched them or anything, but they don't seem like they are going anywhere anytime soon. We have dogs and I'm scared that they will eat the bunnies, so I can let them out on leashes. Are they old enough to take care of themselves? I'm guessing no, as they are SO tiny...I thought that it was a mouse at first. What do I do? any advice is Great!
Answers:Since they are out of they home, they are old enough to be on their own. Mom is neaby and but keeping her distance to draw preditors away from her babies. Thank you for leash walking your dogs to keep them safe. Dogs by nature will chase them and try to harm them no matter the size, but so will cats, so watch out for them lurking in your yard. We have domextic rabbits and when my larger dogs are in, they are in cage, but if it's my small dog in, thet can run loose, since he'd wrather play with them. He's very gentle with them and has even walked into the cage. We have cats inside and they have been raised with them to the point that we've accidently locked them in the cage with the male rabbit and they slept together.
Watch the babies from a distance and you should see them eating grass in the evening time. Mom, if still nearby will join them in the evening and in the early morning hours. She may still nurse them until they are 4-5 weeks old, 2x a day.
Well what you should do is take them to the nearest animal shelter and they can take them off your hands.
If you leave them alone they will likely go back to their nest.
Leave them alone. Usually the mom comes and feeds them at dusk and dawn so you may never see her. They should be on their own and moving around in another week or 2.
Call Animal Control. You can also try Rasing the bunny yourself. Then when they are healthy to leave you can let thme go.
Contact Project Wildlife. They could be wild animals that got seperated from their momma. Project Wildlife will raise them and take care of them until they're old enough to be on their own.
Well ok you have two options:
