Bathing a Teddy Bear Hamster
My hamster smells sometimes is there a way i can bathe her or get a product to bathe her with?
Answers:Don't bath a hamster in water - she can catch cold and water strips natural oil from its fur. But you can try sand "baths" - buy chinchilla sand (not dust) and get it you hamster in a bowl. Your hamster might roll in it and clean herself.
And your hamster is female, so she can stink when she is in heat - about every 4 days. That's absolutely normal.
you cant bath your hamster they are supposed to clean themselves!
if you do bath them they get wet tail which disease common to hamsters however it kills them!
so dont bath ur hampster!!
it IS possible to bathe a hamster, but this should be avoided unless completely necessary. Hamsters catch colds very quickly and may die because of a cold.
If your hamster smells look at why it is smelling, such as using the bathroom all over the cage, if this is so, try giving it a litter box. Also, you may need to change the cage more frequently.
Also, there are sprays that can be bought at pet stores for small animals which get rid of odor, ask a representive at your local store to show you these sprays. They work wonders!
It's not the hamster that smells. Its the cage.
A hamster is a very fastidious groomer. They go to great troubles to make sure all their fur and body parts are very clean. Just watch your hamster right after it wakes up for the night. He/she cannot stand messy fur and will proceed to groom right away.
